Henderson County Attractions
 

One of the nation’s largest men, Miles Darden, lived in Henderson County.  Darden was 7 feet 6 inches tall, and at his death on Jan. 23, 1857, he weighed more than 1000 pounds.  The giant’s grave is in Huron.  Other county attractions include the state’s only free fair and the Parkers Crossroads Battlefield Park.

This organization honors, preserves, and perpetuates the names and accomplishments of outstanding athletes and other sports personalities who are native to Henderson County or who have lived and competed in Henderson County.

Beech Lake Family Camping Resort

An 84-acre family resort with lakeside and non-lakeside campsites.  Amenities include a private boat launch, shower house, swimming beach, sports field, recreational hall, seasonal bait and limited tackle sales.  Open year- round.

Beech River Cultural Center and Museum

Hours: 10am. To 3pm.Wed, thru Sat., Open to groups of 30 by appt. Free Admission.
The museum chronicles the history of the county.  Displays pertain to geology, Native inhabitants, early settlers and wars. Reconstructed log cabin.

The park offers a self guided driving tour, walking trails and battlefield diorama. Guided tours available for groups by appt.

Open daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Falcon Ridge is a Simi-private 18 hole championship golf course on 700 acres.

Pine Tree Country Club

The country club is a private golf club.  Visitors may enjoy unlimited play on the nine-hole course.

Lexington’s Guy B. Amis Park, Natchez Trace Dr.
The park provides plenty of recreation for residents, including an inline hockey rink, and skateboard park; several ball fields for baseball and softball, from T-ball upward.  There are also soccer fields and basketball and tennis courts and a pavilion.  A swimming pool is also on site and open to the public during the summer months. Lexington also has another park, named Thomas Park.  There is a playground at this multi-purpose facility.  And there is also plenty of space for Lexington athletes to practice baseball, soccer and more.
